Compositing and Lighting Endeavors
In the sixth week, our team made significant progress in the areas of FX, camera, and look development. Focusing on the live action plate, we diligently addressed mentor feedback, incorporating symmetrical folds in the background, enhancing the presence of purple hues, and eliminating distracting small cloth folds in the foreground. To further refine the composition, a black vignette was added, elevating the visual impact.
The left side represents the last week, and the right side showcases the updated version. As you can now see, some folds in the background have been added on left side of the frame, and the foreground cloth is closed. To achieve this, I painted them out, tracked in Nuke, and composited them onto the plate.
For the third shot, I undertook the intricate task of lighting the chocolate box in Houdini under the guidance of my friend Deepak. The reference provided posed a challenge, demanding a meticulous color matching process that was accomplished through the use of HDRI, along with a detailed study of the chrome ball and strategic placement of 3D lights in Houdini.
In the post-lighting phase of shot 3, I seamlessly gathered all the FX data and commenced the compositing process, integrating it with the background elements. This involved a meticulous blending of visual elements to ensure a cohesive and polished final composition. The careful synchronization of lighting and FX data underscores our commitment to delivering a visually compelling and harmonious sequence in our project

For Shot 1 and Shot 2, I meticulously approached the compositing process by downloading all elements separately. The emphasis was on setting up the composition in distinct layers, providing a granular level of control over each element. This strategic organization allowed for precise adjustments and seamless integration of various components.
Furthermore, in enhancing the visual appeal, I judiciously applied glow effects where deemed necessary. This additional touch not only added a cinematic quality but also contributed to emphasizing specific elements within the shots, ensuring a cohesive and visually striking outcome."
